CSaw!!! νέα μπάντα που δημιουργήθηκε από τον μουσικό Χρήστο Κοσμίδη το 2009 στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Ο Κοσμίδης είναι ένας μουσικός που γεννήθηκε το 1980 και από 4 ετών ξεκίνησε να μαθαίνει κιθάρα από τον πατέρα του, που επίσης ήταν μουσικός. Σπούδασε σε Θεσσαλονίκη και Βουλγαρία ενώ παίζει πιάνο, κιθάρα και τραγουδάει. Από το 2002 είναι καθηγητής μουσικής στο Matthew Music school ενώ έχει περάσει από μπάντες όπως EXPLOSION CAST, REGENT, NASTYR, CLOUDS OF MELANCHOLY, MORS IN TABULA, UNDER CONSTRUCTION, ενώ έχει συμμετοχή στο Rockwave Festival και έχει παίξει στη σκηνή με HAUNTED και SEPTIC FLESH. Όχι λίγα για έναν άνθρωπο 31 ετών μόλις. Το 2009 λοιπόν δημιουργεί τους CSAW και κάνουν τώρα το πρώτο βήμα με την κυκλοφορία του single "ACID RAIN" το οποίο θα περιλαμβάνεται στο νέο τους άλμπουμ που θα κυκλοφορήσει σύντομα και θα αποτελείται από 9 τραγούδια.
Τώρα όμως ήρθε η στιγμή να ασχοληθούμε λίγο με την μουσική των Csaw. Η μπάντα δηλώνει επηρεασμένη από συγκροτήματα όπως Anathema, Katatonia και Paradise Lost αλλά και από τους πιο alternative Archive και Nick Cave. Όπως λοιπόν γίνεται αντιληπτό μιλάμε για progressive, με λίγη δόση από Gothic και Death με αρκετά στοιχεία από Alternative σκοτεινή και καταθλιπτική μουσική που βγαίνει μέσα από τα σπλάχνα συγκροτημάτων όπως οι Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds .
Το πρώτο τραγούδι είναι το "acid rain" που έρχεται με μια εισαγωγή από synth Και τον κόσμο των Cure περισσότερο όπως τους γνωρίσαμε στους πρώτους δίσκους της δεκαετίας του 80. Ο ρυθμός παραπέμπει στο Pornography των Cure μέχρι που μπαίνουν οι κιθάρες και εκεί αλλάζει το σκηνικό και μας μεταφέρει σε riffs από Paradise Lost με τον Κοσμίδη να είναι ο κυρίαρχος του παιχνιδιού με φωνητικά που παραπέμπουν στον Holmes ενώ η συμμετοχή της Efremidou δίνει μια τελείως διαφορετική νότα στο κομμάτι με την ψυθιριστή φωνή της να πλημμυρίζουν τα ηχεία μου. Και αν νομίζετε ότι αυτό είναι εύκολο κάνετε λάθος. Θέλει μαγκιά για να μπορείς να κάνεις αισθητή τη παρουσία σου έστω και αν... ψιθυρίζεις. Και η Efremidou το καταφέρνει δίνοντας το δικό της στίγμα στο "Acid Rain". Το επόμενο "leave the light open" μεταφερόμαστε σε ένα μελαγχολικό παιχνίδι συναισθημάτων του Κοσμίδη με την ακουστική κιθάρα του να μας βάζει σε έναν μοναδικό κόσμο που υπάρχει φως και σκοτάδι, το μαύρο εναλλάσσεται με το άσπρο ενώ η συνύπαρξη των Nick Cave και Anathema μαζί με λίγο από Katatonia επιρροές, δημιουργούν ένα μοναδικό κομμάτι μέσα από τα πιο πονεμένα, μελαγχολικά αλλά και ελπιδοφόρα όνειρα του ανθρώπινου νου...Με το "i despair" κλείνει αυτό το single album με μια μίξη από τα δύο πρώτα. To τραγούδι αυτό θυμίζει έντονα Nick Cave με ένα συναισθηματικό δέσιμο από Anathema Και την φωνή του Κοσμίδη να δένει τη σύνθεση με έναν τρόπο εξαιρετικό.
Κάπου εδώ τελειώνει η φλυαρία μου. Η μουσική νικάει πάντα το μονόλογο του οποιοδήποτε μουσικόφιλου σα και μένα. Ήρθε η στιγμή να πατήσω το repeatt Kαι να μείνω απομονωμένος παρέα με την υπέροχη συναισθηματική φόρτιση που σου προκαλούν τα τρία αυτά κομμάτια. Πριν το κάνω όμως οφείλω να πώ ένα μεγάλο ευχαριστώ στους CSAW για αυτό το μοναδικό ταξίδι που μου χάρισαν και να ανανεώσω το ραντεβού μου μαζί τους με την κυκλοφορία του νέου τους άλμπουμ. Αν είστε fan σε συγκροτήματα όπως οι Anathema Katatonia και Nick Cave τότε μη χάσετε τους CSAW. Είναι από την Ελλάδα και ξέρουν πραγματικά από μουσική. Σας τους συστήνω με όλη μου τη ψυχή.
CSaw!!!A new band formed by musician Chris Cosmides at 2009 in Thessaloniki. Kosmidis is a musician who was born in 1980 and since he was 4 years old started learning guitar from his father, who also was a musician. He studied in Thessaloniki and Bulgaria, while playing piano, guitar and sings. Since 2002 he is professor of music at Matthew Music school and has passed from bands like EXPLOSION CAST, REGENT, NASTYR, CLOUDS OF MELANCHOLY, MORS IN TABULA, UNDER CONSTRUCTION, and has participated in Rockwave Festival and also played on stage with HAUNTED and SEPTIC FLESH . Not little things from a man just 31 years old. In 2009 he formed the CSAW and now make their first step by releasing the single "ACID RAIN" which will include into their new album which will be released shortly and will consist of 9 songs.
But now it's time to deal a little with the Csaw' s music. The band says influenced by bands like Anathema, Katatonia and Paradise Lost but also by most alternative Archive and Nick Cave. As it is seen talking about progressive, with a little dose of Gothic and Death with elements of Alternative gloomy music that comes out from the bowels bands like Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
The first song is "acid rain" that comes with an introduction by synth from the world more like the Cure met in their first albums of the 80' s . The rate refers to Pornography from The Cure coming up the guitars and there change the setting and takes us into riffs from Paradise Lost by Cosmides be the master of the game with voice referring to Holmes and the participation of Efremidou gives a completely different note in part by her whispering voice flooded my speakers. And if you think this is easy you are wrong. Cunning want to be able to make its presence felt even your just .. whisper. And Efremidou accomplishes this by giving its own position in "Acid Rain". The next "leave the light open" moves us to a dismal Cosmides' s emotions games with acoustic guitar puts us in a unique world that is light and darkness, black alternating with white, while the coexistence of Nick Cave and Anathema with bit of Katatonia influences create a unique piece through the most aching, melancholy and hopeful dreams of the human mind ... The "i despair" closes this single album with a mix of both "Acid Rian" and "leave the light open". To this song reminds of Nick Cave with an emotional attachment by Anathema And Cosmides' s voice tie the composition in an exceptional way.
Somewhere here ends my babbling. The music always beats monologue and any music lover like me. It's time to hit the repeat button And stay isolated along with the wonderful emotions that cause you by the three pieces. Before I do, but I must say a big thank you to CSAW for this unique trip that gave me and renew my appointment along with the release of their new album. Στην αρχή σε εντυπωσιάζει το logo. Στο όνομα C. Saw το πρώτο γράμμα δείχνει την εικόνα ενός μισοφέγγαρου. Ακούγοντας τα κομμάτια στη συνέχεια , αντιλαμβάνεσαι ότι έχεις να κάνεις με ένα project που συμβαδίζει με τη dark rock metal σκηνή. Ο Χρήστος Κοσμίδης από τη Θεσσαλονίκη είναι ο δημιουργός αυτού του project , και μου αρέσει πολύ ο τρόπος που εναποθέτει τα φωνητικά στις μελωδίες των κομματιών. Οι C. Saw πραγματεύονται θέματα όπως το κατά πόσο μια τραγωδία μπορεί να θεωρηθεί τυχαία, ή προκαλείται από την εκδίκηση πνευμάτων. Επιρροές του group θα μπορούσαν να θεωρηθούν οι Anathema, οι Paradise Lost, οι Archive και ο Nick Cave. Από εκεί καταλαβαίνουμε περίπου πού κινείται το όλο σκηνικό των C. Saw. Αν και άκουσα τα διάφορα ακουστικά μέρη του δίσκου με πολύ ενδιαφέρον, έχω να πω ότι είναι λίγο ανώριμο συνθετικά. Από κομμάτια, το Despair είναι ενδεικτικό των gothic ακουσμάτων και επιρροών των C. Saw αλλά θα τους προτιμούσα σε κομμάτια όπως το Leave the Light Open που ακούγεται με άνεση. Δεν είναι βέβαια και κάτι το τόσο πρωτότυπο, αλλά σαν μπαλάντα περνάει και τους πάει ακριβώς αυτό το στυλ. Άλλωστε και η φωνή ταιριάζει και αναδεικνύεται περισσότερο για κομμάτια που θυμίζουν τον ήχο του Nick Cave. Οπότε παρακολουθώντας το background τους έχω να πω ότι αν στις επόμενες κινήσεις τους τονίσουν τα ακουστικά σημεία, τις πιο λυρικές μελωδίες και αφήσουν λίγο το gothic alternative , ρυθμικό μέρος στην άκρη, θα μπορέσουμε να μιλήσουμε για μια ενδιαφέρουσα μπάντα που θα εξελίσσεται σε λίγο πιο χαλαρό ύφος.

This is a single, merely a precursor to the first full length of Thessaloniki´s Gothic Metal embryo C.SAW. A single has one purpose: to promote. Fair enough, someone has to spread the word right? Well, the word has reached the hard drive of my computer, still... there´s a limit to how many lines and how much depth I can squeeze into my review, but here goes anyway.
There are three tracks... two of which could roughly be filed under Gothic Metal with lighter shades of Rock music, and one that´s more of a ballad. “Acid Rain” starts with an upbeat tempo and clean guitars, the verses include spoken female vocals that give the song a very pristine and sorrowful atmosphere. The song also features some double bass drumming and standard Metal riffing, not unlike PARADISE LOST, circa around their self-titled release.
“Leave The Light Open” takes the tempo and atmosphere all the way down to “tear-jerker” mode, the music is alright, acoustic opening, a despair ridden chorus, not the best of vocals, definitely dragging the overall quality of the song down. “I Despair” then shifts right back to the same gear as the first track. A bit more bass driven, more clean guitars, again, the vocals seem to be channeling more insecurity than feel in the performance, I wouldn´t be surprised if this was a non album track only used for this release.
The production is very... “homemade," with drum machines and a mix that could use more balance. I´m afraid that if the quality of the music stays the same on the upcoming full length, they´ll have lost my interest.

Erst seit diesem Jahr existiert die Gruppe C.SAW um Hauptakteur Christos Kosmidis. Am Namen unschwer zu erkennen kommt die Bande aus Griechenland und will trotz des verhältnismäßig warmen Klimas ein bisschen Düsterheit in die Ohren streuen. Vielleicht sind sie ja von der aktuellen Finanzlage geprägt. Genug der Spekulationen, denn dieses kleine Demo-Scheibchen mit drei Songs soll auf das fertig aufgenommene Album verweisen, das mit Hilfe eines Labels unter die Leute gemischt werden soll.
Der Opener und Titeltrack verspricht mit fettem, dunklen Gitarren-Rock vereint mit Frauensprechgesang und elektronischen Verwirrtönen eine interessante Mischung zu werden. Das Schlagzeug klackert allerdings recht eintönig vor sich hin, so dass die melancholische Klampfe auch nicht mehr die Stimmung vollends umdrehen kann.
„Leave The Light Open" beginnt wie ein Schlaflied, doch man zieht sich bald einen etwas dramatischeren Rock an. Insgesamt eher ruhig bleibend passt hier die Referenz-Angabe ARCHIVES vielleicht, während PARADISE LOST oder KATATONIA nicht überall zu finden sind. Mit „I Dispair" bringt Mastermind Kosmidis wieder einige elektronische Elemente mit ein, die im Einklang mit der emotional nicht übertriebenen Stimme ein mysteriöses Klangbild erschafft.
Für ein fast im Alleingang erstelltes Album, von dem hier drei Songs präsentiert werden ist das eine gute Leistung. Manchmal fehlt ein bisschen der Spannungsbogen, aber die gotische Monotonie darf auch nicht immer den Adrenalinspiegel hochschnellen lassen. Die folgende Scheibe könnte für Anhänger nicht allzu harter, trauriger Klänge interessant werden.

Erst seit diesem Jahr existiert die Gruppe C.SAW um Hauptakteur Christos Kosmidis. Am Namen unschwer zu erkennen kommt die Bande aus Griechenland und will trotz des verhältnismäßig warmen Klimas ein bisschen Düsterheit in die Ohren streuen. Vielleicht sind sie ja von der aktuellen Finanzlage geprägt. Genug der Spekulationen, denn dieses kleine Demo-Scheibchen mit drei Songs soll auf das fertig aufgenommene Album verweisen, das mit Hilfe eines Labels unter die Leute gemischt werden soll.
Der Opener und Titeltrack verspricht mit fettem, dunklen Gitarren-Rock vereint mit Frauensprechgesang und elektronischen Verwirrtönen eine interessante Mischung zu werden. Das Schlagzeug klackert allerdings recht eintönig vor sich hin, so dass die melancholische Klampfe auch nicht mehr die Stimmung vollends umdrehen kann.
„Leave The Light Open" beginnt wie ein Schlaflied, doch man zieht sich bald einen etwas dramatischeren Rock an. Insgesamt eher ruhig bleibend passt hier die Referenz-Angabe ARCHIVES vielleicht, während PARADISE LOST oder KATATONIA nicht überall zu finden sind. Mit „I Dispair" bringt Mastermind Kosmidis wieder einige elektronische Elemente mit ein, die im Einklang mit der emotional nicht übertriebenen Stimme ein mysteriöses Klangbild erschafft.
Für ein fast im Alleingang erstelltes Album, von dem hier drei Songs präsentiert werden ist das eine gute Leistung. Manchmal fehlt ein bisschen der Spannungsbogen, aber die gotische Monotonie darf auch nicht immer den Adrenalinspiegel hochschnellen lassen. Die folgende Scheibe könnte für Anhänger nicht allzu harter, trauriger Klänge interessant werden.
